To ensure that you can rely upon the quality of products and services we make available, our credit union stands behind our privacy policy. This notice describes our policies and practices that protect your privacy and enable us to share information to make available competitive financial products and services.
What follows is a description of the information we collect and disclose, including the parties who receive nonpublic information from us.
Information We Collect About You.Our credit union will collect only the personal information that is necessary to provide you with financial services and products. We may disclose all of the information we collect, as described above, as permitted by law. We collect information about you from the following sources:
- Applications: Information we receive from you on applications for deposit accounts, electronic funds transfers, credit cards, consumer and real estate loans.
- Transactions: Information about your transactions with the credit union, including ATM or card transactions, loan advances, transactions through My Life, at a branch, at a service center or over the phone.
- Credit Reporting Agency: Information we receive from a credit reporting agency when evaluating your application.
- Online: Information you may provide to us on an online application, Web BillPay transaction or information that is sent to the credit union through the Internet.
When necessary, we may disclose nonpublic personal information about you to the following types of third parties:
- Financial companies, such as insurance companies, mortgage service companies;
- Non-financial companies, such as consumer reporting agencies, retailers and travel agencies; and
- Others, such as non-profit organizations.
We may disclose all of the information we collect, as described above, to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf or to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements. We may also disclose nonpublic personal information about you under circumstances as permitted or required by law. These disclosures typically include information to process transactions on your behalf, conduct the operations of our credit union, and follow your instructions as you authorize or protect the security of our financial records.
Disclosure Of Information About Former Members.
If you decide to terminate your membership with Utah First Credit Union, we will not share information we have collected about you, except as may be permitted or required by law.
Fair Credit Reporting Act Disclosure.
Utah First Credit Union is permitted by law to share any information about their transactions or experiences with you. The Fair Credit Reporting Act governs the reporting of information to credit bureaus. This allows you the right to verify the accuracy of your credit report.
How We Protect Your Information.
We limit any information sharing to the extent necessary to service your account. We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide products and services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information.
My Life Access.
To protect your account information from unauthorized use, Utah First Credit Union uses the most up to date technology available. Some of the technology used is:
- 128 SSL encryption is used to encrypt all data that is being passed between us,
- Access to your account requires an account number and personal identification number (PIN), and
- Access to your account is blocked after incorrectly entering a PIN three times.
Utah First Credit Union Does Not Disclose or Sell Member Information To Nonaffiliated Third Parties
If at any time the credit union changes this policy, you will receive notice and the option to opt out. This opt out, by law, will not apply to disclosures that are legally permitted or to disclosures we make to companies that perform services on our behalf or to other financial institutions that have joint marketing agreements with us.
To opt out you can call the credit union at 1-800-234-0729. Once we receive your request, we have a reasonable amount of time to stop the disclosures. You may always contact us for assistance if you wish to later revoke your opt out election.
What Members Can Do To Help.As a member of our credit union, you have a responsibility to safeguard your financial information. You can help by following these simple guidelines:
- Protect your account numbers, card numbers, PINs (personal identification numbers) and passwords. Never keep your PIN with your debit or credit card, which can provide free access to your accounts if your card is lost or stolen.
- Use caution when disclosing your account numbers, social security numbers, etc. to other persons. If someone calls you, and explains the call is on behalf of the credit union and asks for your account number, you should beware. Official credit union staff will have access to your information and will not need to ask for it.
- Keep your information current. It is important that we have current information on how to reach you. If we detect potentially fraudulent or unauthorized activity or use of an account, we will attempt to contact you immediately. If your address or phone number changes, please let us know.
